ITU Green Campus Project

Year:2015
Location:Maslak, Istanbul
Site:2,000 m²
Client:ITU Rectorate

Once upon a time, an asphalt-covered parking space on the major axes of the ITU campus has been converted to a socially vibrant and ecologically viable space.  A bioswale is implemented to purify polluted surface runoff from the adjacent vehicle road.  Pervious concrete is used to allow penetration of the rainwater to the ground.  Low water use plants and native plants are used to reduce heat island effect.  The appealing new outlook of the space has provided great benefit to the establishments (small cafe’s and restaurants, convenient store, bank etc) in the nearby building.
