ITU Campus ATM Ground
Year: | 2015 |
Location: | Maslak, Istanbul |
Site: | 2,000 m² |
Client: | ITU Rectorate |
The site had very negative appearance due to sporadically installed ATM machines by different banks, scattered trash cans, bad drainage and lack of plant materials. This situation has caused chaos in pedestrian circulation, also caused security problems. The project brings order to the ATMs, allows easy and safe access to the site, enables pedestrian circulation from north to south directions. Grass strips between hard pavements and rain gardens are used as strategies for rainwater harvesting and drainage. The site is furnished with wooden seating elements, and sufficient bike racks are installed to support campus-wide bicycle friendly circulation. All the plant materials are water thrifty, and well adapted to the Istanbul’s ecological conditions.
